Indy 500 Learns To Listen Carefully

The engine of a single IndyCar can reach 128 decibels. With 33 cars, racing 500 miles, across 200 laps in front of a speedway that hosts more than 1.5 million people over three days, Indy 500 fans are exposed to some serious noise. However, this year they were exposed to something else—the Listen Carefully message.

Four times every hour, fans across the stadium watched a Listen Carefully public service announcement on the importance of hearing protection broadcast over the JumboTrons. Listen Carefully ambassadors also quizzed the crowd on their hearing protection knowledge and handed out earplugs.
