6 Signs You May Need a New Hearing Care Provider
If you’ve been working with an audiologist or hearing care provider and you’re unhappy with the results, ask yourself why. List the things you want your hearing aids to do, or the services you want your hearing care provider to offer. In addition, take a look at these six statements. If any of them resonate with you, it may be worth setting up a hearing consultation or evaluation with us to see how we can help.
- I don’t think my hearing care provider is using advanced hearing aid testing methods and techniques.
- I’m wondering if my current hearing aids would work better with different testing and customization.
- My hearing aids seem to break down frequently.
- It is hard for me to schedule basic hearing aid maintenance and checkups.
- My hearing aids don’t have the sound quality and features I need.
- My hearing aids have not improved my hearing ability and quality of life.
Switching Hearing Care Providers? Here’s What You Should Bring to Your Hearing Consultation.
If any of those statements strike a chord with you, set up a hearing consultation with us. We’ll begin by reviewing any test records and reports you have from your hearing care provider. You’ll also need to fill out our client forms. Then, we’ll examine what next steps, like testing and hearing aid programming, are best for you.
Why I Chose Elkhart Audiology Rehab – Gary’s Story
Grandfather of four, Gary S., was a truck driver who lived in Goshen and North Webster for 37 years before settling down in Bristol with his wife. About five years ago, Gary noticed that his hearing ability had declined. Because his mother also had hearing loss, he decided to visit her hearing care provider for help.
Unfortunately, the technology offered by Gary’s first hearing care provider was unsatisfactory.
“I have some health issues, and I felt like my hearing aids were failing to keep up,” Gary said in a brief interview with the EAR team. “I heard some good recommendations about Elkhart Audiology Rehab and decided to give them a try.”
After visiting Elkhart Audiology Rehab at the suggestion of a friend, Gary boldly switched hearing care providers and trusted Sharon and the EAR team with his hearing needs. For Gary, making the move was the right choice.
“[The difference was] night and day. The hearing aid technology is so much better,” said Gary. “The only time I feel like things don’t sound natural is when I play my guitar, but I think it’s hard to get music to sound the same. Other than that, everything is much better quality.”
When comparing his current hearing aids to his previous ones, Gary noted that the adjustability was a big improvement. Additionally, he appreciated the features that reduced background noise in crowded or noisy environments. Overall, Gary indicated that his hearing experience is much more enjoyable than it was before he became a client at Elkhart Audiology Rehab. He loves watching his grandchildren grow up and looks forward to making more memories with them in the future.

Introducing our New Customer Care Specialist Deb Stanifer
The Elkhart Audiology Rehab team is thrilled to welcome Deb Stanifer as our Customer Care specialist. We did a brief interview with Deb so you could get to know her before your next visit in the office.
1.Tell us about you! Where are you from?
I am originally from Elkhart. I moved to West Lafayette about 10 years ago and recently relocated back to my hometown!
2. What is your role at Elkhart Audiology Rehab, and why is it a great fit for you?
I am the Customer Care specialist at Elkhart Audiology Rehab. I worked for a non profit organization in Lafayette and wanted to continue working in a field where I am making a difference in the work that I do. In getting to know Sharon and Stef, and how customer service focused they were, I knew that EAR was a good match for me.
3. How do you spend your free time?
I am glad to be back in my hometown where most of my family lives and really enjoy spending time with them or traveling to Indianapolis to spend time with my daughter. If I’m not spending time with family, I’m usually listening to a true crime podcast.
4. Do you have any pets?
I have always fancied myself a cat lady, and yes, I do have a few, but right before we moved back to Elkhart my husband and I adopted a Doxen mix puppy named Fenrir. That little dude has me wrapped around his paw and with the exception of work, where I go, Fen goes.
We look forward to learning more about Deb, and we’re sure you’re going to love her too. Be sure to say hi the next time you stop by!
